Ling won the China National Young Thousand People Distinguished Scientists Award, the Guangdong Province Pearl Distinguished Scholar Award, the Guangzhou City Science and Technology First Class Award, the University Hundred People Distinguished Professor Award, the Guangdong Province Challenge Cup Second Class Award, and 6 university level awards. He also won 7 best paper awards of IEEE flagship conferences, 2 outstanding reviewers awards from an IEEE Society, 2 outstanding reviewer awards from Elsevier and 9 recognized reviewer awards from Elsevier.
